Is Apple Mail The Best Desktop Email Client?
I pretty much dislike everything about MacOS, except for their no frills default email client. Probably the best mail client I have used. What is better? Let me know!

How to Install Custom Fonts for Linux Apps on Chrome OS
Просмотров 27721 день назад
If you are on a Chromebook or using ChromeOS Flex (or another Chrome OS variant) and you would like to use custom fonts in your Linux applications, it is actually pretty easy to do. Also font related, you can check out the free Font Inspector web app I made: fontinspector.ape-apps.com/
Is Chrome OS Flex a Viable Windows Alternative?
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.Месяц назад
Every few months or so I like to take a look at the current state of Chrome OS Flex and see how it's coming along. At this point I think it can be a suitable Windows 10 replacement for most users, except for gamers.
Chrome OS and ChromeOS Flex 125 Released to Stable

Today we are taking a look at the latest stable release of Chrome OS and ChromeOS Flex. I forgot to mention that on Chromebook Plus devices there are new AI related features, but tbh I don't care so much about those. I do have a Chromebook Plus device though and can test them if anyone is interested. Video recorded using the Beelink SER5, which you can get on Amazon here: amzn.to/3X1FGm0
New App Mall for Chrome OS and Flex

Checking out the new App Mall app for Chrome OS and ChromeOS Flex, using the 126 release in the dev channel. To be honest, it doesn't seem overly useful at this point, but let me know what you all think!

Quick correction to my last video. I can now confirm that both WiFi and Bluetooth are working without issue in Chrome OS Flex on the Beelink SER 5 mini PC. You can find this PC on Amazon here: amzn.to/4auYYTK
Chrome OS Flex 123 on Beelink SER5 Mini PC

Discussing my experience running ChromeOS Flex on the Beelink SER5 Mini PC. This thing comes with a Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, and 500GB ssd for under $300, so it's a pretty good deal if it's able to "go the distance". Find it on Amazon here: amzn.to/3U6jpjI

Looking At Material You Redesign On Chrome OS Flex
im confused about these browser bench numbers.. my i512400 4060 pc scored 19 and a brand new m2 MacBook air scored 20 ?
I am a hardcore linux user, but Chrome OS Flex impressed me so much that i even bought a chromebook, at sale. Power users should stay away, gamers also. But it has a very clean, safe design, the linux vm adds a lot of flexibility, just install flatpak. And it does wonders on weaker hardware.
dell vostro 3560 SD not work
Thank you very much, this helped me uninstall what I needed to.
Thank you Brandon for these videos. For Windows 10 users the choices are limited so Chrome OS flex is a viable choice and your videos make that a real choice for non-tech people like me. Great vidz.
I work on Macs for a living and cant stand Apple Mail. For me does not play nice with my google account
hi í àm looking fór à décànt bóx for gàmíñg what wóuld yóú suggést?

Kernel 6.6 is in 127/august.
Start menu - named App Drawer
I installed chrome os flex on my old windows tab. It started and is working ok but i am not able to get audio out of it,nor do i see anything reg battery level. Pls help.
Sir you are a hero❤❤❤
Man thanks a lot ❤
Thanks
Various reasons = pr0n 🙂
Thank you, this is the first thing I searched for when I first started using ChromeOS. I'm amazed they have not made this the default. Especially seeing that it works perfectly fine when enabled. I'm yet to see any related bugs when using it.
Hey, I came across "Missive" a few months ago, and I have been using it since. The only downside is that if you want to look at your mail history, it only catches the last 15 days or so. Now, if you pay, this limitation is removed. Other than that, it has every single feature you could imagine or need. Multi-Account, supports all mail protocols and services. The interface is very slick and uncluttered. BTW I use it on ChromeOS via the Playstore, but I could also use its official Web App version.
Man you are heavily handsome and deserve to be an actor, ever tried to be in cast schools? :D
Yep, Apple Mail is the best, hands down. Anyways, I don't like Thunderbird so on Linux I use a combo made of Geary as a daily driver + Evolution for more complex things.
I wanted Geary to be the one, but what I can't stand is how you can't resize the width of the app columns/sections.
@@BrandonStecklein (sadly) correct
@@BrandonStecklein Geary 46 has just been released: ok, you still can't resize anything but at least it now has 3 panes by default also on "little" screens
CAD user mouse.
I never really understood the need for an Email Client. I aways just used the Website or Web Apps (PWA). 📧
A client is nice to have when you have multiple inboxes you need to manage.
it still does the same thing, I try to get into a game and it just pops up the steam logo for 2 minutes and then kicks me out of the game, any help appreciated.
My right ear enjoyed this, thanks for your input!
So people want to leave windows because of all of the spying it does. And you want people to use a verified spyware OS like Chrome OS?
I totally agree, this must be a default option on ChromeOS. I been using it since a year now and really looks better.
I'm a Win10 user looking for something to switch to. I appreciate your videos but I don't understand Linux with their 1million 'flavours' and coding all the time. There's gotta be an easier choice.
It worked man. Thanks❤
very cool brandon, thank you
bro just showed us his ip address 💀
lol its a local lan address
You can install the PostmarketOS Linux on the device which makes it extremely interesting
Thanks Brandon. The windows really look better rounded.
thank you soo much dude
YES. I am also going to do ChromeOS Flex. Linux Mint too slow and quirky. Abandoned Windows years ago. Thanks for the great video.
Glad you liked it, I have been using Flex as my daily driver for months now and things have been going good
this was actually the clearest and most concise video on this matter ever! sadly im still struggling to do this, im trying to install fonts to use within krita
I don't know if this will work, but in your Linux Files folder, create a new directory called .fonts (needs to have the dot at the beginning) and put the font in there (you probably need to enable hidden folders). I have read that some KDE based apps (which I think Krita is) can read fonts from that directory, but again I have not tried this so idk
@@BrandonStecklein thnkyou so much for even replying! so i had no share folder at all after loading linux up for the first time and im sure previously i had managed it somehow sadly a while ago and now im just having no luck at all. doesnt seem to have worked as suggested but ill keep trying. again super appreciative of the reply. i may even just try inkscape instead.
after all announcement about gemini / integrated AI, I install flex again, but there's no AI at all on flex, sad
So I also have a "Chromebook Plus" model and it now has a new Gemini icon on the dock. When I click it, it just goes to the gemini.google.com PWA
@@BrandonStecklein what about AI wallpaper and video background generator?
I have the 11800 series 16ITH6H model. The ram inside is DDR4, is it possible to replace it with DDR5?
I would not expect that to work
when i install steam from terminal it says "error: Nothing matches com.valvesoftware.Steam in remote flathub" did i skip a step or smth???
Same for me! I think it expired, so the tutorial won't work anymore
It still shows as being in the flathub repo @sneakybutter5874 flathub.org/apps/com.valvesoftware.Steam If I have time this weekend I will try it again on a fresh install and see what I can figure out
Hi. How good are Corsair 5600MHz 2x32Gb CL48-48-48-90 for gaming ? I have the Legion 5i Pro with i7 13700HX up to 5Ghz with turbo boost without OC, RTX 4070 140W TGP. I see that most users that owns a Legion 5i Pro uses Kingston HyperX Impact for their RAM upgrades. Are they the best?
Now that I don't know. tbh I doubt it makes a huge difference
set up is asking am i system or user help Nothing matches com.valvesoftware.Steam in remote flathub
You were great in Office Space
lol "every day you see me, that's on the worst day of my life"
This is the third tutorial i've watched and the only tutorial working on my chromebook! The easiest one also. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped!
i entered the steam but do i need to do the process all over again or no ?
Love your videos by the way. I see we have rounded corners now, nice
Hey I was wondering how is Android Studio in flex. I have tried it in fydeos and it wasn't great
It's not too bad. The emulator is dog slow though, but if you have a physical phone for testing it works,
@@BrandonStecklein thanks I will get an SSD and try it out
Installing Fedora 40 on my old Toshiba Satellite C55 originally running Windows 8.1... Giving it new life... because I wasn't able to use it anymore... I also have a new desktop Mac Studio but I don't want to spend more money on a laptop. This will work fine for the things I do... Thanks to the LINUX community!
Recently I tried archlinux, ubuntu, linux mint on lenovo t460s but I'm not getting better web rendaring support. Laptop battery discharge quickly and temp also high when playing youtube videos. I'm also tried with gpu acceleration but not good as support same on chromeos. And web browsing on chromeos better than my testing distro. Maybe out of the box that distro not support well. I like also chromeos select to speak accessibility features and unlock by my android phone. Over all chromeos is best for google eco system. I'm dual booting chromeos by brunch framework.
actualice a esa version y no levanta mi placa wifi ni ninguna de mi 3 usb wifi , cuando en cualquier distribucion linux con ese kernel andan todas. seve que es una version de kernel limitada
